Spring Time on Lake Chippewa
Spring usually arrives quite late in northern Wisconsin! But not this year!
The ice was out in mid March - and it went out really fast! There were boats going through Moore's Bay March 18th! THERE WERE WATER SKIERS ON MARCH 31st!

How will this effect fishing? Honestly, we don't really know. We presume that walleye spawning and crappie spawning will probably be earlier than usual. Many Resorts are rushing the spring cleaning to get cabins open. Have you thought about extending your opening week-end? Come up on Thursday and try your luck with some panfish…..Remember, Pan fish are open year round on The Chippewa Flowage.
The trees and brush are usually totally bare until early May. Not this year. Trees are leafing out and the grass is greening up. It is especially pleasant on the golf courses, where there are no lines and lots of spring bargains.

Call your friends and make your plans to visit your favorite stopping places on the Chippewa Flowage, Hayward Wisconsin, and help us celebrate our Summer Pin Tour!
Still, be prepared to dress warmly, like maybe shorts under your snowmobile suit. Traveling to your favorite fishing hole might be chilly, but sitting there in the sun will be warm. Bring your binoculars. The bears, deer, fishers, elk, birds, beavers, nutrias, foxes, coyotes, wolves, badgers and more are on the move. If you find yourself harassed by a loon, then you are probably too close to a nest.
All of us up here in the great Northwoods look forward to the return of many guests and are most excited about YOU being a new found friend!
